Findley Lake Updates
October 15, 2017- Lake level will begin to lower to winter level.
Saturday, January 21, 2017- Town of Mina meeting for Sewer Districty. PLEASE ATTEND
December 2016- First stage of dam construction completed.
8/16/15-BLUE GREEN ALGAE -Sampling conducted by Chautauqua County Department of Health staff from “the boat dock” (near the outlet at the northern shore) and Paradise Bay (SW shore) on Findley Lake both confirmed the presence of a blue green algae bloom, based on blue green chlorophyll a levels of 58 ug/l and 45 ug/l, respectively, both higher than the DEC blue green algae bloom criteria of 25-30 ug/l. Anabaena, Aphanizomenon, Microcystis, and Woronichinia (all BGA species, most of which can produce toxins) were found at both sites. Toxin data are not available, but will be forwarded if they indicate an elevated risk.
This information has been shared with regional DEC and DOH staff.
